Commentary/Strategy[edit | edit source]
It's quite fascinating that the moment the Danish unique unit comes into its own is the same time you can get superb foot knights at the same building were you want to train Livgardes. However, although slightly faster, cheaper and with a bit more hit points than Danish heavy infantry, Livgards have two weak points: they lack the anti-building attack bonus and the extra armour which their knightly fellows benefit from. (They do, however, have an advantage over the common halberdiers: they don't take bonus damage from archers.)
Historical Background[edit | edit source]
Initially companies of almost viking-like organisations, the finest axemen are recruited into the royal bodyguard.
