Swiss Guard - Elite Pikeman with additional bonus against infantry.

Auld Alliance - enables Scots Guards

Order of the Fleur de Lys - Scots Guards have +4 attack and +10 HP; requires Auld Alliance.

Eternal Peace - enables Swiss Guards; requires Papal Protector.

Militia Line - France does NOT receive the Halberd Militia. Town Militia and Footman cost 70 food and 10 florins. Researching Communes gives these units +20 HP.

Spearman Line - France receives both spearman-line units, but with less hit points. However, researching Communes gives spearman-line units +20 HP.

Light Cavalry Line - France does not receive the Hobelar.

Coustilier - France receives this unit. In addition, they are cheaper and have more hit points.

Lancer Line- France receives both units of this line.

Militia Lancer Line - France does NOT receive this line.

Skirmisher Line - France receives both units within this line.

Archer Line - France does NOT receive the Arbalester.

Cavalry Archer Line - France does NOT receive this line.

Siege Weapons[]

Ram Line - France does NOT receive the Siege Ram.

Scorpion Line - France receives all units from this line.

Mangonel Line - France does NOT receive the Siege Onager.

Other Siege Units - France receives the Florentine Gunner and the Trebuchet.

Galley Line - France and sixteen other civs lack the Galeass.

War Cog - France and sixteen other civs lack the Holk.

Demolition Ship - France receives the Demolition Ship.

Blacksmith - Of 16 technologies available, France is able to research all except Ring Archer Armor and Bracer.

Military - France can NOT research Squires, Drill Pikemen, Thumb Ring, Plackart, and Bloodlines.

Castle - France does NOT receive Sappers.

Dock - France does NOT receive Shipwright.

Economy - France does NOT receive the Two-Man Saw ,Bills of Exchange, and Stone Shaft Mining.

Church - France does NOT receive Chiliasm and Localised Interdict. Researching Papal Protector enables the Conversion technologies.

Town Hall - France receives all technologies at this building.

University - France does NOT have the oppurtunity to upgrade to Keeps. They also lack the Bombard Tower.

Princely Court - France has the full array of techs to pick from.
